The kids and I traded little red envelopes of candy and coins this morning. It was Amy’s idea – she even made the envelopes. Right now, she’s putting the address on a letter to mail to her cousins, and Brody is in front of Toy Story, arguably the best Disney movie ever.
I made a butter mochi “cake” yesterday, complete with red bean paste. It doesn’t look appetizing at all, but it tastes really cool. Also, I got Alton Brown’s first cookbook at the library yesterday, and can’t wait to start it. I want to get through Neil Gaiman’s Smoke and Mirror’s first though.
I got my income tax filed last week. It’s so painful to spend the money in my head before it’s here. I really won’t have any to play with, considering the bills I need to take care of. That, and it seems the brakes need to be done on the car. Well, not the pads, since it hasn’t been that long, but maybe the master cylinder. They’re acting funky, and I’m thinking that might be the reason for the service engine soon light.

I haven’t felt so stupid in a very long time. Seriously, I’ve been through many an audit, but this was by far the worst one ever. And the sad part is that one of the auditors was freaking gorgeous. The other I wanted to bring home and watch movies with, she seemed like such a fun creature. My boss and I decided she was in the wrong profession, because she was too nice. But gorgeous mchunky auditor with the sexy accent, well, too bad he was a meany that made me feel dumb.
Maybe it really is time to go back to school for something I want to do, instead of something (I though I was) am good at.

Brody had an accident. He was without undies, since he had wet them, but it turns out he has a tummy ache. So we had a poopy accident right in front of the stairs. I scramble to clean up, while Amy helps him to the potty. And Sutton comes to investigate.
As I turned to dump the majority of the accident in the toilet, Sutton decides something needs to be done about the small amount still there. So he tries to cover it, scratching at the floor. Good kitty!

To get to the parking lot in front of my apt, you have to go through a pretty blind, tight curb. And riding in the middle of that curb, coming towards me, was a little boy, maybe six or so, on a shiny red bike. I was only going about five around the curb since it’s so tight, but I still had to slam my brakes. There were two women walking at a bit of a distance behind him, so they may have been watching him, but it scared the hell out of me. A moment later, I parked my car, and just had to sit there. Brody was in the back seat, saying, Mommy, we’re home!
It was just so surreal. See, Brody’s donor was hit by a car while riding on his bike close to that age. And with all the stuff coming up lately about him, and the awful dream I had about being back in the trailer in Azle this morning, and with my back feeling like it’s on fire, it shook me good. I came inside and hugged the hell out of Amy.

But with end of year, I’ve been overwhelmed at work, and it’s making me more anti-social than usual. But here’s the update:
We went to the magnet school fair last weekend. As of today, Amy has gotten *4* invites to the different area schools. She’s with me on which two are her favorites. One is a career-exploration school, and the other is a TAG school. If I remember correctly, both are independent campuses, not sharing with the regular middle schools. That sounds so snobbish, doesn’t it? Anyway, the TAG school, in addition to Spanish and French, also offers German as a high school credit course, and looks to have a good drama program. But the career school, oh, wow, what a concept. I would have loved to have had that opportunity growing up. The other two invites she got were for a science school, and today she got one for a law-focused school (yeah, a lawish middle school! How bout that shit!)
And that’s really it. I finally gave my statement to the adjuster for the car accident, and faxed in the quote for my bumper. Haven’t received the forms she said she was sending out yet though. And still in PT, though not as often as I should go. It’s not workout stuff though, not for back and neck injuries, it more deep tissue massage and tens machines and such. It’s actually a nice break to run over there on my lunch.
And how come someone didn’t tell me that the L word was on-demand sooner! I’ve been watching two epis a night of season two this past week. Meow~

| Your Life Path Number is 8 |

Your purpose in life is to help others succeedYou are both a natural leader and a natural success. You are also a great judge of character.
You have a head for business and finance. You know how to make money.
A great visionary, you can see gold where other people see nothing.
In love, you are very generous – with gifts, time, and guidance.
You love to inspire people, but it can be frustrating when they don’t understand your vision.
Great success comes easily for you. But so does great failure, as you are very reckless.
You are confident, and sometimes this confidence borders on arrogance.

Brody, singing: We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Cheer!
Mommy: Son, it’s New Year, not New Cheer.
Brody: No, it’s New Cheer. Will said so.
Mommy: Brody, it’s New Year. I know this. I’m smarter than Will.
Brody: No you’re not. You’re not a boy.
Jaw. Floor.
This single mommy just gave her three-year-old a nice lecture.

I found out yesterday that our Canadian office has oj and fresh sandwiches in their vending machines. I’m not complaining, since I live in a place where there are practically more eating establishments than residents. However, orange juice would be awesome! I bring my big glass of oj and sonic ice in the car with me for my commute, and usually have just a bit to bring into work before my coffee. And our little fridge won’t hold a half gallon either, so I would have to lug in a bunch of little ones. Now, another bit of useless information: our soda machine is so ancient, it has the “New Coke” under the button. I kid you not.
